On the 23rd of February, Klaveness took delivery of the new kamsarmax bulk carrier MV “Bavang” from Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (YZJ) in China.
The vessel represents the latest in fuel efficiency and will be employed in the Baumarine pool. Ship management will be performed by Klaveness Ship Management (KSM), certified to ISO 9000, ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18000.
The bulk carrier, which is the fourth Klaveness vessel to carry this name since 1963, was named by Solveig Torp, during a ceremony held at the yard the same day.
The delivery marks the end of another project successfully concluded between YZJ and Klaveness. In 2013/2014, YZJ built a total of six container feeder vessels of 2,500 TEU.
At the end of 2015, Klaveness placed a further order at YZJ, this time for three combination carriers, each of 83,500 dwt.
