FFA Analyst / Trade Executer

We are searching for a dynamic individual to join our Financial Trading team in Oslo as a FFA (Forward Freight Agreement) Analyst and Trade Executer within the drybulk market. This role combines trading responsibilities with in-depth market analysis and strategy development in the drybulk shipping sector. The role reports to Vice President, Head of Financial Trading and Bunker.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze shipping freight markets and develop comprehensive trading strategies based on market trends, supply and demand dynamics, and geopolitical factors.

  • Execute trades in the derivatives market for internal trading strategies and clients, ensuring alignment with established risk parameters and trading mandates.

  • Manage individual portfolios with a focus on risk management, actively monitoring positions and adjusting strategies as needed to mitigate risk exposure.

  • Contribute to the development of forecasting tools and fundamental models for the drybulk market, providing valuable insights to support trading decisions.

  • Collaborate closely with internal portfolio managers and analysts to develop and refine trading strategies, leveraging quantitative analysis and market intelligence.

  • Conducting timely and accurate Risk Modifying Activities; Trade Capture, Post Trade Activities, and Position Change.

  • Cultivate strong relationships with colleagues in risk functions, working together to assess and manage risk effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Masters’ degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.

  • Significant experience within financial trading environment or international shipping markets, specifically in the Drybulk market,

  • Strong understanding of math, probability, and statistics with ability to translate statistical solutions into real world trading strategies.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and across departments.

  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and deliver results within tight deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.

  • The right candidate is energetic, dedicated and result oriented.
