Torvald Klaveness expands Asian foothold with opening of new office in Japan

Oslo, 08 April 2024: Torvald Klaveness is pleased to announce a commercial presence has been established for Klaveness Dry Bulk in Japan with the opening of a new office, Klaveness Japan KK. The move strengthens Klaveness’ global foothold and commitment to deliver localized client service.

Located in Marunouchi in the heart of Tokyo's business district, Klaveness Japan KK aims to become an additional hub for commercial activities in Asia, building on an existing presence on the continent with offices in Singapore, Manila, and Dubai.

The office will be headed by Haruki Chua, General Manager for Klaveness Japan KK, who comments: “I am thrilled to spearhead our operations in Japan. Being in close proximity to the Japanese market increases our capacity to nurture existing relationship and forge new ones.”

Head of Klaveness Dry Bulk Michael Jørgensen adds: “Klaveness has a strong relationship with Japan, notably through our ties with Marubeni and our pool business. Establishing a physical foothold is a natural progression of our strategy and positions us well to open even more doors into the Japanese market for Klaveness Dry Bulk and the wider Klaveness group.”
